A.C. Gilbert, toy manufacturer and inventor of the Erector Set was also nephew to A.T. Gilbert, the Gilbert House's original owner.

What a gorgeous building...reminds me of some of the older homes around here but I think this is more ornate. Your photos are superb!

The huge rocking chair was made by a local furniture maker. When the store went out of business they donated the chair to the Gilbert House. That chair holds a special spot in my heart because my grandmother would always tell me it was our chair when I was a little girl. I am glad to see it still on display.
