Utterly fantastic image--I am grinning up here in Portland over it and your talent to find it and take such a fabulous shot.
About The Allure of the Automobile, I couldn't believe my good luck the last week of July when I saw on Facebook from the Portland Art Museum that I had a chance to get a free timed ticket for the final Friday, so I clicked immediately and managed to get two! A friend from work and I went at 5:30 p.m., then on to 3 Doors Down Cafe afterwards. Those automobiles took our breath away. In fact, I hardly remember a step I took, and we were in there for a few hours, looking every which way at them. Naturally I took lots of photos, most of which pleased me. I knew I would soon put them on the blog.
Then one day this week on Facebook again I saw the PAM post about a special photographer ticket--I clicked on the link and got myself a no-tripod one. Here's what it says on their Web site:
New opportunities to view Allure exhibition - The Allure of the Automobile at the Portland Art Museum has been drawing record crowds for a summer exhibition. The exhibition is the first time the Museum has allowed photography (without flash) in its special exhibition galleries and thousands of visitors have already shared their photographs online and through social media.
Special Session for Photographers By popular demand, the Museum will offer a two-hour, limited access session exclusively for photographers. Tickets to the session will be limited to the first 40 photographers who purchase tickets. The limited number of people in the galleries will allow more space to set up shots of the exhibition’s sixteen amazing automobiles.
Members of the Museum’s staff will serve as tripod grips for those photographers wishing to use a tripod. Limited flash photography will be allowed.
The Allure of the Automobile Photo Session Sunday, August 14, 10 a.m. to Noon Photographers with tripod: $50 Photographers without tripod: $45
Maybe they still have one available--come on up to Portland? We could meet, photograph, smile. Just an idea at the crack of dawn!
Anyway I don't know if I'll make it to the Porsche today--I have Mississippi company coming soon and lots left to finish doing around the apartment in the meantime. So glad you're enjoying my Cars in the Park photos--I have had a blast every Saturday since June 18!
