The Surge is a member of the PDL, a developmental league for the United Soccer League. The team is Oregon’s only minor league soccer program and offers college players an opportunity to play top-flight soccer while maintaining collegiate eligibility. They play their first home game May 15th.

Buckskin is a color of horse that resembles certain shades of tanned deerskin caused by a gene that affects red and black pigments. A trait that can be traced to Mustang descendants from Spain. Unsure of the history of the fancy show attire.

As of November 2008, the State Fairgrounds has provided the temporary use of in their 4-H barn for a skate park. They've supplied ramps, electricity (lights for evening use), and an employee to help facilitate operations. Skaters now have a place to play that is undercover, free, and safe for all ages to skateboard at.
